DEVAE for beginner and self-taught developers
DEVAE is a free developer community for beginners, self-taught and junior developers: ask without downvotes, pair with someone in a live room, and build a profile from your first projects.
DEVAE is a free social network for developers where beginners can ask questions without downvotes, get unstuck in a live room with someone who shares their screen, and build a public profile from their very first projects. It launched in open beta in 2026 and is free for individuals.
Most beginner communities are either an archive that closes your question as a duplicate, or a chat server where your message scrolls away. DEVAE is neither. Post what you are stuck on, tag the language, and someone who uses it sees it in their feed. If text is not enough, open a room: voice, your screen and your terminal, so the other person can see the actual error instead of your description of it. Every fix you ship becomes a post on your profile, which is the thing employers look at long before your resume.
What beginners use DEVAE for
Ask without the gatekeeping
No reputation needed, no downvotes, no "this has been asked before". Tag the language and your question reaches people learning or using it.
Learn more →Get unstuck live
Open a room, share your screen and terminal, and let someone walk through the error with you. Ten minutes on a call beats an evening alone.
Learn more →Find a study partner or accountability buddy
Post "learning React, want a weekly pairing session" and match with someone at your level. Coding accountability partners keep both of you shipping.
Learn more →Build in public from project one
Your first deployed page, your first API, your first bug fix. Post it. The feed is tuned to your stack, so the people who respond are the right people.
Learn more →Beginner-friendly communities
Stack communities for JavaScript, Python and more list who is active, and city communities show developers near you.
Learn more →Free tools while you learn
Regex tester, JSON formatter, JWT decoder and a GitHub README generator, all free and client-side.
Learn more →Open a room from your terminal
Install the CLI once, then pairing is a single command from the project directory. Screen and terminal are shared with whoever you invite.
