Code together, live
DEVAE live rooms are free audio/video rooms where developers code, debug and talk in real time, with screen and terminal sharing.
One command or one click
Open a room from any project
From the web app, the desktop app or devae room create. Rooms are private by default; make one public to let anyone on DEVAE drop in.
Share your screen, editor and terminal
Everyone in the room sees the same code. Teammates drop cursors and comments right on it and can run the tests from their side.
Ship from the same room
Merge, deploy and celebrate without switching tools. Post the result to your feed when you are ready.
Open public rooms
Public rooms that are live this minute. Join one, or open your own.
What developers use rooms for
Pair programming
Share your editor and terminal, hand over control, ship together. Remote feels local at low latency.
Debug with someone
Stuck at 2am? Open a room, paste the stack trace, and let another builder look at the same screen.
Mock technical interviews
Practice system design or live coding with a peer, with a shared whiteboard of code instead of a Google Doc.
Office hours
Maintainers and seniors open a public room for an hour; anyone on DEVAE can drop in with questions.
Join a room without leaving the CLI
$ npm install -g @devae/cli ✓ linked devae command $ devae login ✓ authenticated as @you $ devae room join refactor-payments ● live · 3 collaborators · screen + terminal shared
More on the CLI on the developers page.
Questions
A live room is a real-time space with voice, optional video, screen sharing and terminal sharing, opened from any project on DEVAE. Invite people by handle or make it public so anyone can drop in.
Yes. Live rooms are part of the free plan for individuals, with no time limit during the open beta.
No. Rooms run in the browser. The desktop app adds native screen and terminal sharing, and the CLI lets you open or join a room with one command.
That is exactly what they are for: pair programming, debugging together, mock technical interviews, office hours and study sessions. Anyone in the room can share a screen or a terminal.
Rooms are invite-only by default. Nothing shared inside a room is published unless you post it to your feed afterwards.
